Florida Gators lacrosse to host No. 3 Stony Brook

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 8 Florida lacrosse team welcomes No. 3 Stony Brook in a battle of Top-10 teams on Saturday afternoon.

Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. on Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

This is the eighth meeting between Florida and Stony Brook, with the Gators holding the 6-1 series advantage, including a 3-1 record in Gainesville, Fla. UF was victorious in the last matchup between the squads, winning 11-10 on March 23, 2019 in Stony Brook, N.Y.

The matchup with the No. 3 Seawolves is the fourth game for the Gators against an IWLCA Top-25 opponent this season. The Gators currently sit at 2-1 against ranked opponents, with victories over then-No. 1 Maryland and then-No. 18 Colorado.

The rest of the way, the Gators will face four more IWLCA opponents in: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 13 Princeton, No. 16 Dartmouth and No. 18 Navy.

UF is coming off a midweek victory against Kennesaw State, while Stony Brook won its last matchup against Ohio State on Feb. 22.

Scouting the Seawolves

*   Stony Brook currently sits at No. 3 in the IWLCA poll after starting the year 2-0
*   The Seawolves started the season off defeating then-No. 4 Syracuse in an offensive battle, topping the Orange 17-16. Stony Brook then followed with a 20-7 victory over Ohio State
*   Stony Brook is led on the offensive end by Ally Kennedy, who has notched 12 points on the year (8 goals, 4 assists). Taryn Ohlmiller and Sarah Pulis have recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively.
*   Ally Kennedy leads the Seawolves in the draw circle, coming up with 18 draws in the first two contests
*   Defensively, Stony Brook has caused six turnovers as a squad, led by two from Haley Dillon
