Florida Gators lacrosse host High Point on Saturday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 5 Florida lacrosse team looks to bounce back as the squad returns home to face the High Point Panthers on Saturday afternoon.

Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

This is the fourth meeting between Florida and High Point, with the Gators holding the 3-0 series advantage, including a 1-0 record in Gainesville, Fla. UF won the last matchup between the two squads back on March 9, 2019, defeating High Point, 16-15, in High Point, N.C.

Florida holds the edge in the following statistical categories: goals, assists, draw controls, groundballs, shot percentage, shots, shots on goal, saves and save percentage. High Point has the advantage over the Gators in caused turnovers.

This is just the second matchup for Florida against an unranked opponent, having defeated Kennesaw State earlier this season.

UF is coming off a midweek loss to No. 15 Dartmouth (13-9), while High Point dropped its last contest to Towson (12-11).

Scouting the Panthers

*   High Point has started the 2020 season off 1-3, defeating Mercer (18-11), before dropping three-straight contests to #1 North Carolina (3-24), James Madison (8-13) and Towson (11-12)
*   The Panthers are led on the offensive end by Ashley Britton, who has recorded 12 goals and one assist on the year. Nicole Pugh has posted nine points, while Rachel Foster and Abby Hormes have both added eight points apiece
*   Hormes leads the Panthers in the draw circle, coming up with 21 draws in the first four contests. Britton has also added 13 draws on the year
*   Defensively, High Point has caused 44 turnovers as a squad, led by nine apiece from both Hormes and Meredith Chapman
*   Sarah Zeto and Jill Rall have been splitting time in the cage this season, with Zeto having all four decisions. Zeto has recorded 18 saves for a .321 clip, while Rall has added eight saves with a .267 save percentage
