Florida Gators lacrosse host #12 Loyola on Saturday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 4 Florida lacrosse team returns home to face off against the 12th-ranked Loyola Greyhounds on Saturday.

Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

This is the eighth meeting between Florida and Loyola, with the Gators holding the 6-1 series advantage. The Greyhounds earned their first series victory in the latest matchup – winning 15-12 in Baltimore, Md. on Feb. 23, 2019.

The matchup with the No. 12 Greyhounds is the third-straight for Florida against an IWLCA Top-25 opponent. The Gators currently sit 2-0 against ranked opponents. The rest of the way, the Gators will face five more IWLCA opponents in: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 5 Stony Brook, No. 9 Princeton, No. 16 Navy and No. 19 Dartmouth.

Loyola is coming off a win against Towson on Wednesday, while Florida is coming off a win against No. 1 Maryland last Saturday.

Scouting the Greyhounds

*   Loyola is currently the No. 12 ranked team in the nation, sitting at 2-0 on the year
*   The Greyhounds defeated No. 24 Johns Hopkins in their season opener, topping the Blue Jays 16-7. Loyola then followed with a mid-week win against Towson, defeating the Tigers 14-10
*   Loyola is led on the offensive end by Livy Rosenzweig, who has 11 points on the year. Jillian Wilson has added in eight of her own in the first two games this season
*   Jillian Wilson leads the Greyhounds in the draw circle, coming up with 12 draws in the first two contests
*   Defensively, Loyola has caused 12 turnovers as a squad, led by four from Shay Clevenger
*   Kaitlyn Larsson has led the Greyhounds in the cage this season, clinching both wins. She is averaging 11.00 saves, with a .564 save percentage. The junior is allowing 8.50 goals per game through the first two contests
