The Florida Gators received good and bad news this week on the injury front prior to its game against Northern Colorado.
The most serious of the injury news was freshman receiver James Robinson.
“You probably saw where James Robinson wasn’t out there. He had something show up in his echocardiogram, whatever it’s called, which is not good. Obviously our specialists at Shands will handle exactly what that is. We’ll take every precaution to help him as he moves forward.”
An echocardiogram, also called an echo, is a type of ultrasound that can give doctors a clear picture of how a person’s heart is beating.
Robinson was suspended for the first game of the season and did not travel to Dallas with the rest of the team. Practice was closed on Monday but a UF spokesperson told Gator Country that Robinson was in attendance. Robinson was not at practice Tuesday or Wednesday.
The Gators will also be without tight ends Kemore Gamble (foot) and DeAndre Goolsby (leg) as well as Kyle Trask (foot surgery).
McElwain’s caustic description of Goolsby’s injury was as followed.
“Goolsby is out. I don’t know when he’ll ever be back.”
It was only later when asked directly that McElwain offered up “a leg” as the injury that kept Goolsby out from practice.
Goolsby responded on Twitter.

Sophomore safety Chauncey Gardner (foot/ankle) was a full-go in practice on Wednesday and he’ll play on Saturday.
