Florida Gators gymnast win SEC honors

Schoenherr is the SEC Specialist Gymnast of the Week honor. This is Schoenherr’s first such honor of her Gator career and the third consecutive for the Florida program. Fellow Gator junior Nya Reed claimed the opening two SEC Specialist of the Week honors.

Skaggs claims her first SEC Gymnast of the Week honor after picking up her first all-around title. This is Skagg’s first SEC Gymnast of the Week honor and the second for UF as teammate Trinity Thomas was the season’s first recipient.

Savannah Schoenherr – SEC Specialist of the Week:

  *   Competed in two events at No. 8 Arkansas.
  *   Vault – 9.95 set collegiate best. Win was third of career and first since 2019 NCAA Regional. Previous vault best of 9.90 achieved seven times.
  *   Also posted season bars best of 9.85
  *   Top vault mark among SEC competitors last Friday
  *   Five of last six vaults (dating back to 2020) earned 9.875 or better
  *   No. T11 in nation for vault (9.883 average)

Megan Skaggs – SEC Gymnast of the Week:

  *   Won all-around (39.50) and balance beam (9.95) at No. 8 Arkansas
  *   All-around total led all SEC competitors for Week 3 and shares the nation’s No. 3 total among last weekend’s all-around competitors. It stands No. T-12 among 2021 all-around totals.
  *   Balance beam mark equals collegiate-best set in 2019
  *   First collegiate all-around win; third balance beam win and first since 2019 SEC Championship. Shared top beam mark among SEC competitors on Jan. 22.
  *   First all-around and balance beam lineup appearance since 2019 NCAA Regional
