Florida Gators defeats Florida Atlantic 20-14 in overtime

The Florida Gators (10-1, 7-1) defeated the Florida Atlantic Owls (2-8, 2-5) on Saturday afternoon in the Swamp behind a good defensive performance.

  1. The FAU game was absolutely shameful. I really want to support Treon, but this season, he has suffered from tenative, late reads, missed opportunities, and floater balls that allow easy interceptions. His decision making is just too slow.

The Gators quite possibly have the worst FG/PAT play that I have ever seen, at any level of football.

The probability for a shutout with the FSU and Alabama games is very high.

  2. Please tell me you’ve played QB before to make a comment like that. This guys was under pressure all game long. I’m surprised his turnover to TD ratio wasn’t higher. Please don’t criticize unless you understand what that guy is going through. There is obviously some work to do but he’s not a hesiman candidate and cannot very well take this on his own.

    • I support the Gators 100% but even a casual observer can tell you that the offense under Harris is clearly not playing championship football, not even average football. The FG and PAT play is so bad, beyond imagination.

I hate to say it, but this Gators team could be the worst SEC division champion ever. The probability that the Gators will be shut out in the SEC CG is quite high. Honestly, can you see this offense scoring any points against Alabama. When the Alabama DLine coaches watch the Gator OL tape this season, there could be open laughter in the film room. Obviously this will directly translate to Taylor being unable to run the ball, and a non-existent passing game. Any success in moving the ball against the Alabama DL would take a heroic effort and a healthy dose of luck. I sure hope our coaches have some sort of gameplan for Treon to succeed – screen passes, quick outs, wheel routes. He will have less than 3 seconds to get rid of the ball.

Not like it makes any difference, but yes to answer your question – I have played and coached the position at the HS level.

    • Trust our coaches. Support Treon.
I sure hope there is a path in place to help him succeed.
Pocket passing may not be the answer, based on what has been laid down on film so far.
Personally, I could envision success for Treon looking something like Russell Wilson’s play for the Seahawks. When RW is at his best, he is scrambling, prolonging the play, taking advantage of the disorder in the secondary to allow receivers to find holes in the coverage. Could this be what Treon can develop into?

  3. Andrew,

I love you, but saying that Tabor’s picks were our only turnovers completely disregards the play that set up our first TD. Remember the Morrison crushing blow to Driskel? Well, I bet Driskel doesn’t either.
