Florida Gators DBU title carries weight for Jaydon Hill

The Florida Gators hosted several top targets at Friday Night Lights, including first-time visitor Jaydon Hill (6-0, 172, Madison, AL. Bob Jones).

The 2019 cornerback prospect picked up his Florida offer just over a month ago and finally made the trip down to compete in the camp and get a feel for the program under the new staff.

“It was fun,” Hill said of his visit. “It was lit. How I imagined it.”

He got to talk to and take some coaching from head coach Dan Mullen and nearly all of the defensive coaches throughout the night. The intensity of the staff and their overall passion for the game stood out to him.

For the most part, the message from all the coaches is the same. That message is early playing time. Music to every recruit’s ears, and an important factor for Hill as his decision draws closer by the day.

“They say I can come in here and I can play right away as a freshman,” he said. “I can make an impact on this team in the secondary.”

The thing that sets Florida apart for Hill is the DBU title. The amount of first-round NFL talent the Gators have produced over the years is something he cannot and will not ignore.

“Playing that position, that’s something you would pay attention to,” Hill said. “They produce my position to the NFL … The DBU holds weight. I can say that, just knowing they’re producing DBs, that holds a lot of weight.”

After his visit, Hill said Florida is sitting with SEC East rivals Tennessee and South Carolina as one of his top schools. He plans to weigh his options and make his commitment by August or early September at the latest.

With no cornerbacks committed to the 2019 class so far, the addition of Hill would be a huge boost for Florida.
