Florida Gators coaching staff set to host several instate prospects on Thursday

The Florida Gators coaching staff is starting a busy period as they will not only start spring practice soon but they’re hosting prospects on campus daily.

Thursday is the start of a busy weekend for the staff as they will host several top in-state prospects in the Class of 2023 and 2024 for visits.

This is a big set of visits for the staff as they look to build relationships with these prospects and for many it will be the first time for them to meet the new coaches.

GatorCountry brings you a look at the prospects scheduled to be on campus on Thursday.

Offensive side of the ball

The headliner of the day is likely running back Treyaun Webb who is high on Georgia and Notre Dame but admits the Gators have turned up the heat on him since Billy Napier arrived in Gainesville. Napier wants to back the Jacksonville area and make it a pro Gator area once again and Webb is a big one to start with. Thursday is a huge visit for the staff with Webb.

Receiver Darren Lawrence decommitted from Florida in December but he says the staff has been in contact with him and now he will get the chance to meet everyone on Thursday. Lawrence still has a lot of interest in the Gators but wants to get to know this staff after he committed to Mullen’s staff.

Offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson will be in town with several of his Lake Gibson teammates and while Wilson doesn’t have an offer from Florida yet, several schools like Kentucky, Missouri, and Oregon have all offered.

Joining Wilson and his teammates will be 2024 receiver Jamar Taylor Jr who also doesn’t have an offer from Florida yet, but West Virginia and USF have recently offered.

Defensive prospects to visit

Defensive tackle Jordan Hall has been a top target for the staff since they arrived in Gainesville and he’s another Jacksonville prospect they hope to land in this class. Georgia recently offered Hall, but the Gators are the team that Hall has visited most so far.

Defensive back Sharif Denson has been to Gainesville a lot, but this will be his first time to meet the new staff and meet defensive coordinator Patrick Toney who has been the main one recruiting Denson. Florida State and Ohio State will also get Denson on campus this month.

Safety Kenton Kirkland received a visit from offensive line coach Darnell Stapleton in January when the Gators stopped by his school, and he will make his first trip to Gainesville under Napier on Thursday. Florida State has been the team with the most buzz around Kirkland early on.

2024 safety Brayshon Williams is one of the top guys in his class for next year and while the Gators haven’t offered yet, that could change on Thursday. Williams already has offers from Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M and others. Williams is from Lake Gibson, a school that Billy Napier has a connection too.
