The Florida Gators are expected to hire Kentucky’s defensive coordinator Brad White in the same role on Jon Sumrall’s staff, Gator Country has learned. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports was first to report.
White has been Kentucky’s defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach since 2019, after originally joining the Wildcats’ staff in 2018 as the outside linebackers coach. During his tenure, Kentucky has produced seven defenses ranked in the nation’s top 45, including four that finished in the top 25 (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022).
Before arriving in Lexington, White spent six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, including three years as the teams outside linebackers coach (2015–17). According to reports, Sumrall is interested in coordinators with NFL experience, and White checks that box.
As a player, White was a walk on at Georgia for one season before transferring to Wake Forest, where he later became a graduate assistant in 2007-08. White also coached safeties at Murray State in 2009 and inside linebackers at Air Force from 2010-11.
