Five Most Wanted Offensive Players

The high school football season starts this Friday night and Florida Gators’ commits and targets will flood the fields under the Friday night lights.

Right now the Gators stand firm with 11 commitments in the Class of 2015, with eight of those being on the offensive side of the ball.

Despite having a number of good players already in the class on offense the coaching staff is trying to add more and in this article we are going to give you the top five offensive targets that the Florida Gators are trying to land in 2015.

These are just the opinions of Gator Country and whom we think are the biggest names remaining on the board.

Most Wanted

1.) Offensive lineman Martez Ivey (6-5, 271, Apopka, FL High) is the top target on my board because of the need for a left tackle in this class. The Gators landed David Sharpe last year at left tackle but the verdict is still out on how good he will develop at the position. With that question mark out there, landing Ivey would be huge. Florida and Auburn continue to battle it out for the offensive lineman as he heads into official visits. I wouldn’t expect a decision from Ivey until after this football season.

2.) Running back Ray-Ray McCloud (5-9, 176, Tampa, FL Sickles) is a player that — despite his commitment to Clemson — still visited Florida two weekends ago to watch the Florida Gators scrimmage. McCloud is a top target at the running back position because of his athletic ability. McCloud is committed to Clemson but I expect him to still take visits to Florida and the Gators will continue to recruit him with the chance of flipping him if the team succeeds this season.

3.) Receiver George Campbell (6-3, 183, Tarpon Springs, FL East Lake) has said he wants to make a decision soon and he’s likely to commit to Florida State, but again, if Florida has a good season this year the Gators will have the opportunity to flip him. Campbell doesn’t have great hands but teams are recruiting him with the hopes that he develops into a big play receiver in the future.

4.) Running back Nyheim Hines (5-8, 178, Garner, NC High) just visited Florida two weekends ago and the Gators made a good impression on the running back. Hines is very similar to Ray-Ray McCloud in that he’s quick and has good ball skils that allows him to catch the ball out of the backfield. Hines wants to decide this fall but says he will take an official visit to Florida before he does. With McCloud committed elsewhere Hines is an important recruit to land just in case the Gators aren’t able to flip McCloud.

5.) Receiver Ryan Davis (5-10, 161, St. Petersburg, FL Lakewood) was at Florida on Wednesday with his father and the visit went extremely well for both of them. Davis is very likely to choose between Florida and FSU but with the Noles filling up quickly that should help the Gators with Davis. Davis, like Campbell, wants to decide sometime this fall but will still take official visits. This receiver is a really quick slot guy who can also play some wildcat quarterback.

  1. The only guy I consider a lock on the list is Ivey. He has said he’d be a Gator right now if UF hadn’t sucked last year. Be good this year, he comes, still suck, he’s history and UF will have to worry about some guys committed now that gave their relationship with the coaches as the reason they chose Florida. Some will stay, regardless, like Ivie, Jackson, etc. As for McCloud and Campbell, it’s not a positive sign if they have chosen another school already. UF needs Hines, they have struck out on running backs so far, including the one that they thought was coming, Dexter Williams. They probably have no chance for Jacques Patrick as well. Chris Davis is a good pick to come, but so was Cain and McCloud, so nothing is a given with this year’s class.
