Evers’ ready to be the leader of the Florida Gators’ class

The Florida Gators coaching staff had some help with the uncommitted unofficial visitors last weekend as two of the Gators’ commits were on campus.

Quarterback commit Nick Evers (6-2, 188, Flower Mound, TX. High) was leading the charge and he enjoyed meeting everyone while on campus.

“It was great, I had a really good time meeting a lot of the coaches in person for the first time, that was cool,” Evers said of his official visit. “I met a few prospects for the Gators, it was really good to build a relationship with them too, catching up with them. Just seeing how they feel about being a part of something special. Overall it was a great experience.”

Last week was Evers first time to see everything on campus including the facilities that he wasn’t able to see when he visited on his own earlier this spring.

“With the self-guided tour, you really don’t know what you’re looking but when I was on the visit, they were describing what each building really was,” he said on seeing the campus for the first time. “They showed me around the facilities and just getting to see an inside look on things you wouldn’t get to see on a self-guided tour.”

Tuesday was also the first time for Evers to actually meet the coaching staff that he committed to and the quarterback likes the first impression he received from the staff.

“They were definitely loving and super easy to get along with and start conversations with,” Evers said on his first meeting with the coaches. “They’re a great staff that I enjoy being around and I think that’s important when you’re looking at a program especially when you’re going away from home. The coaches made me feel like I was at a home away from home. The staff was amazing.”

Now that Evers has met everyone, he knows he made the right decision to commit to Florida and he’s ready to help the staff with the class.

“Oh, for sure, there’s a lot of great things we’re starting to do in the Swamp,” he said on if the visit showed him why he committed to Florida. “I’m excited to be a part of it with a great staff and I’m going to continue to recruit for my class and see what we can build in the 2022 class.”

Evers has been mentioned by most prospects as a player who’s recruiting them to Florida and the quarterback explained why it’s so important for him to recruit others.

“The whole thing with me recruiting is I’m trying to build something special,” Evers said on why he takes pride in recruiting as much as he does. “I’m trying to do something that hasn’t been done in a while and I want to create on my legacy, and I feel like it starts right now in being the leader of my class. I want to build something special to get that ultimate goal of getting a championship in the Swamp. That’s my ultimate goal and why I’m working so hard behind the scenes.”

During the visits, Evers’ family was also helping the quarterback recruit others to Gainesville as they were working on the parents’ side of things.

“That’s kind of our family, we like to help each other out,” he said on his family helping to recruit as well. “My family has been supportive of all of the decisions I’ve made and with the Gators, they’re trying to get out and they were doing little things with all of the parents and trying to build relationships with them. My dad always told me that relationships are important, and we’re all trying to build relationships and get things going. They’re doing their things behind the scenes as well.”
