Evers left speechless by his Florida Gators offer

Last week, new quarterbacks coach Garrett McGee sent out his first offers to several 2022 quarterbacks across the country.

2022 quarterback Nick Evers (6-3, 190, Flower Mound, TX. High) was one of those guys who picked up an offer after talking to the newest Gators assistant coach.

“Coach [Garrett] McGee offered me,” Evers said on the coach who offered him last week. “He said a lot of great things and is very excited for me to come to their campus soon.”

Evers was excited and thankful to pick up the offer from McGee and understands the opportunity that the offer presents.

“Honestly, I’m very thankful and crazy excited about the offer,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I recognize how special this opportunity is and I can’t wait until I can get on campus to see and touch everything in person. When Coach McGee offered me, I was speechless.”

McGee explained to Evers last week just how he fits into the Gators offense and why the Gators offered him.

“He said I was perfect for the scheme they want to run,” Evers said on what McGee told him. “He said I was a very talented quarterback that somehow stayed below the radar until now.”

Evers had high praise for McGee during their first call as the quarterback’s coach is getting his feet wet in Gainesville.

“I thought he was super easy to talk and his demeanor makes you feel calm,” he said on his first impression of McGee. “He’s very relatable, clearly knows the quarterback position which is what I look for in a coach.”

Dan Mullen’s offense and development of quarterbacks is something that has Evers attention after he picked up the offer.

“I know his offense is quarterback friendly and extremely productive,” Evers said on what he knows about Mullen and his offense. “He’s known to develop quarterbacks and has a long track history of doing it.”

The opportunity to play in Gainesville is something that Evers is very interested in and that puts the Gators high on his list.

“I’m extremely interested in Florida,” he said on his interest in Florida. “The Swamp is one of the craziest environments in all of football so having the opportunity to play there would be a privilege. I can honestly tell you that it’s not to be taken lightly and I can’t wait to see it in person.”
