Elam sees a need for himself with the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators have picked up two top corners over the last month but the coaching staff still has a need at the position and hosted one of their top targets on Saturday night.

Defensive back Kaiir Elam (6-0, 190, North Palm Beach, FL. The Benjamin School) was on campus and liked the atmosphere in the Swamp this year as he noticed a change from last year.

“I loved it, I thought it was a good atmosphere,” Elam said on what impressed him at Florida. “The atmosphere was better than last year. Everybody was great.”

Before and after the game, Elam had a chance to talk to the coaching staff including head coach Dan Mullen who had a message for him.

“I talked to Coach [Charlton] Warren and Coach Mullen,” he said on the coaches he spoke to on Saturday night. “That I have the ability to come and play right now and they need help. And that I can be developed the best here.”

Elam watched the secondary on the field against Kentucky and he feels like he can help the defense if he was to choose Florida.

“Yes, I’m very confident in my skills,” Elam said on if he sees the need for himself at Florida. “I’m a playmaker, I would’ve created some turnovers tonight [Saturday].”

The talented defensive back has backed away from naming any top schools in the past and he stuck with that on Saturday night but he was just happy to get to a game in Gainesville.

“I really don’t have any tops,” he said on if he has any top schools. “I’m just focused on my goal of being the number one corner in the nation but I was just happy that I was able to come out here and come to a game. Just to be able to see for myself the atmosphere and the coaches.”

Moving forward Elam will take some more unofficial visits before taking official visits and he knows when he will likely be back in Gainesville again.

“I haven’t scheduled any officials yet but I’ll be back up here [Florida],” Elam said on returning to Florida. “Probably the LSU game maybe.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Elam says he isn’t sure what schools will get official visits yet but he has a few schools in mind.
