Edwards likes the atmosphere around the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators are still looking for a running back for the class of 2020 but the staff is already working on several guys in the class of 2021.

One of those guys the staff is recruiting is 2021 running back Donovan Edwards (5-11, 190, West Bloomfield, MI. High) who talks to several coaches on the coaching staff.

“I was talking to Coach [Greg] Knox,” Edwards said of the coach he talked to recently.” He was making sure I landed safely and everything.”

Head coach Dan Mullen has also been recruiting Edwards recently and explaining to him how the atmosphere is in Gainesville.

“The atmosphere that the game days are like,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “Me and Coach Knox, we’re building a real good relationship. Me, him and Coach Mullen. I’m going to try to get to Florida as soon as this dead period is over with.”

Edwards watched the Gators bowl game victory over Virginia on Monday and liked how the offense was ran.

“I like the way they use the running back,” Edwards said. “They put him in the receiving game against Virginia in the Orange Bowl. That’s what I look into. I don’t want to just be a running back. I want to be a receiver as well.”

The 2021 running back says while the Gators aren’t recruiting him the hardest, they’re still recruiting him pretty hard.

“In the Midwest, they’re recruiting me harder because that’s where I live. Florida is recruiting me hard as well,” he said. “It’s just not as much as the Midwest schools.”

Next up Edwards plan to take official visits but after that he’s just waiting on the time to be right for him to make a decision.

“Probably take as many as possible in the spring,” Edwards said on when he wants to take official visits. “It’s just whenever I feel it’s best. I could commit now if it came to it. It’s just how I feel about whatever school I want to go to.”
