Edwards enjoys another visit to see the Florida Gators

On Saturday, the Florida Gators hosted their last junior day of the month, and they hosted several out-of-state prospects on campus.

2024 athlete King Joseph Edwards (6-5, 242, Hoschton, GA. Mill Creek) was on campus and was able to see a lot during junior day.

“It went really good,” Edwards said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “This is actually my third time here, but we toured the facility, spoke with the academic counselors, and the position coaches, and took pictures.”

While on campus, Edwards was able to speak with his two main contacts on the coaching staff who he’s building a relationship with.

“I talked to Coach [William] Peagler and Coach [Sean] Spencer,” he said on the coaches he talked to. “I like them both, they make choosing what side of the ball I want to play hard because I get along so well with both of them.”

Tight ends coach William Peagler explained to Edwards just how the Gators could use him at tight end if he picks Florida.

“He said he could use me as a Y or an H due to my size,” Edwards said on the message from Peagler. “He said I’d be watching a lot of film to be effective and learn how they use tight ends. He said I’d do really well at tight end and he could use my skill and speed for sure.”

Defensive line coach Sean Spencer also explained where the Gators like Edwards at on defense but the Georgia native has the option on which side of the ball he wants to play in college.

“He just told me to keep grinding, be coachable and keep working,” he said on the message from Spencer. “He likes me more as a rushing backing is where he said I’d fit in at. They have told me that I can choose which side of the ball I want to play.”

Edwards who has been to Gainesville several times already says his interest in the Gators is high because of Billy Napier and his coaching staff.

“I have a high-interest level in Florida,” Edwards said of his interest in Florida. “I like the coaching staff, they’re really knowledgeable with a bunch of experience and Coach Napier has created a team of icons. Their skill combined will cause havoc this season and he hand-picked all of them. He’s doing a really good job.”

The athlete also plans to return to Gainesville again soon as several other schools are recruiting Edwards hard right now.

“I plan to return to Florida in the spring,” he said. “Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Miami, and USC are all recruiting me hard.”
