Dylan Meeks transfers from Akron to Florida

The Florida Gators added another transfer on Wednesday when Akron defensive end Dylan Meeks committed to Florida and will walk-on with the Gators program.

Meeks is from Orlando, Florida, and entered the transfer portal before the 2020 season so he didn’t see any action this season.

In three seasons, Meeks played in 36 games where he accounted for 53 tackles, as well as forced one fumble from his defensive end position.

The 6-2, 240-pound defensive end helped lead Akron into the MAC Championship game as a freshman where he also played some fullback for the Zips.

Meeks was on the Dean’s List three years in a row and was on the Academic All-Mac team the last two years.

The defensive end joins Jace Christmann, Antonio Shelton and Daquan Newkirk as guys who have transferred into Florida this year. Shelton and Newkirk are both defensive ends and Christman is a walk-on kicker.
