Dumervil looking to gain information during Florida Gators visit

The Florida Gators had a lot of big name offensive linemen on campus for Friday Night Lights including one guy who was making his first trip to Gainesville this weekend.

Offensive lineman Marcus Dumervil (6-5, 300, Fort Lauderdale, FL. St. Thomas Aquinas) is visiting Florida until Sunday and so far he says the visit is going good for himself.

“The visit is going great, just getting a chance to hang with the guys and the coaches,” Dumervil said of his visit to Florida that continues until Sunday. “Just seeing the facilities up close and personal. I’m just looking to see how Coach [John] Hevesy coaches, I want to get in a couple of meeting with him and see how that’s going. Just see how he is as a coach.”

Despite this being the first time on campus for Dumervil, the lineman says he knows a good bit about Florida and the coaching staff.

“Obviously they have a lot of winning tradition,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “Coach Mullen was here with Tebow, Coach Hevesy was here with Tebow and they won the SEC championship in 2008. They know how to win and they know how to win at a high level.”

Dumervil is hoping to use this trip to gain as much information as he can about Florida both on and off the field so he can factor it into his decision.

“I just want to get as much information back for me and my family,” Dumervil said on what he hopes to gain from this trip. “I want to make the best decision for the next four years and obviously there’s a lot to learn and take in.”

The offensive lineman is also very interested in the Gators academics and he’s heard good things about Florida.

“I heard they have a good law school and that’s what I’m really interested in,” he said on Florida’s academics. “I just want to get a chance to explore that option as well.”

Several schools have been recruiting Dumervil hard but the lineman says he isn’t close to shutting down his recruitment.

“I’m no where near making a decision,” Dumervil said. “I’m probably going to make my decision around the Under-Armour game or signing day. I’m going to be a late guy, I’m not in a rush to make a decision.”
