Dixon likes the atmosphere of the Florida Gators fans

The Florida Gators have always been the school that has been able to recruit defensive backs and that has continued under Jim McElwain and is looking to be a strength in the future for the program.

Three weeks ago the Gators hosted one of the top guys in 2019 in defensive back John Dixon (5-10, 170, Tampa, FL. Wharton) who enjoyed the atmosphere in the Swamp.
“It was good. I liked it,” Dixon said of his visit to Florida for the Tennessee game. “It was insane. No matter what, they [fans] kept cheering on. Even when it looked like they were doing bad they kept cheering. The defense played real good.”

Dixon had the chance to talk to several coaches and talks to them on a regular basis and they’ve all kept the same message for him.
“Just to keep working,” he said of what the coaches told him. “They always want me to come back and get up here as much as I possibly can. I’ll probably come to a couple more games.”

That message and seeing how the Gators use young defensive backs is something that stands out to Dixon as he watched the defense closely against Tennessee.
“The defensive backs looked good,” Dixon said of how he thought the defense did. “They run smooth. The defensive coaches must be doing their job well, because nothing really happened against them. They did good.”

Dixon has visited Florida several times in the past and he admitted that one thing keeps him coming back to Gainesville.
“Probably the fan base,” he said on what stands out about Florida. “They’re real supportive no matter what. They keep their heads up and make sure you keep your head up.”

The Gators aren’t the only school that will get Dixon on campus this fall as he has several other visits he wants to take.
“I’m going to Ohio State whenever they play Penn State and then I’m probably gonna schedule some games for Florida State later,” Dixon said on visits he will take this year.

With Dixon being such a highly rated prospect, several other big time programs are recruiting the defensive back hard.
“Auburn, Ohio State, Florida State, South Carolina, and Florida,” he said on what other schools he’s looking at. “Those schools are probably recruiting me the hardest.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Dixon is one of the top defensive backs in the state for 2019 and is someone that is looking hard at Florida. Florida State is another school that Dixon likes a lot early on in the process.
