Defensive lineman Kelby Collins commits to the Florida Gators over Alabama

The Florida Gators picked up their 18th commitment of the 2023 class on Saturday when they picked up an out-of-state commitment.

Defensive lineman Kelby Collins (6-5, 280, Gardendale, AL. High) committed to Florida over Alabama and many others on Saturday during a ceremony.

Collins has been on campus three times, and he really likes defensive line coach Sean Spencer.

“It was good, I learned a lot of new stuff from him,” he said on meeting with Sean Spencer. “He showed me a couple of moves, he showed me a couple of guys he worked with like Micah Parsons. I feel like that stuck out that he trained some of the best and recruited some of the best and got them to the league and developed them in the league.”

Spencer has also explained during these visits just how Collins will fit into the Gators’ defense on the defensive lineman.

“I would be like a five, four technique,” Collins said on where Florida wants him at. “I feel like I would fit well, they have a lot of movements and stuff. I feel like that can benefit me in ways and make me more versatile. I feel like I could fit into their scheme.”

Collins is the fourth defensive line commit in the class joining Gavin Hill, Isaiah Nixon, and TJ Searcy as the Gators look to add several more guys to the class as the defensive line room needs to add depth.
