Senior defensive back Jadarrius Perkins has entered the transfer portal just one week into the 2023 season.
“I want to appreciate Dan Mullen and Scott Strickland for giving me the Opportunity to be a Gator something I’ll remember and cherish forever. With that being said I have decided to enter my name in the Transfer Portal as a Graduate. A really unfortunate situation I love all my teammates that has kept me up through everything. Outside noise mean zero only the people in this circle knows the real and that’s all that truly matters. Wishing my brothers luck in finishing this season you guys works so hard for it,” Perkins wrote on Twitter.
In 23 games played for the Gators, Perkins tallied 40 tackles (28 solo), three tackles for loss, three pass deflections, and one interception.
Against Utah in 2023, Perkins found six snaps at STAR after being listed as an OR with Jaydon Hill on the week one depth chart. Perkins recorded one tackle in the contest.
Perkins recently received his degree from the University of Florida.
“This weekend’s a good weekend, we’ve got two players graduating. Mark Pitts and Jadarrius Perkins are both getting their degree from the University of Florida,” Napier said on August 11th, 2023.
Defensive end Tyreak Sapp claims that Perkins is a 4-D player.
“That guy understands the game, he plays hard,” Sapp said on Perkins during fall camp. “He’s working to improve every day and he’s improved from last season into the spring and coming into this fall. You’re gonna see a big jump for him.”
Perkins will be a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left.
Look for true freshman Sharif Denson to step up and fill Perkins’ role this season.
