Davis hopeful to visit the Florida Gators this spring

The Florida Gators have offered a lot of prospects in the 2021 class and are now trying to get as many of those guys on campus this spring as possible.

One of those prospects that the Gators are after is 2021 safety Derrick Davis (6-1, 194, Monroeville, PA. Gateway) who has been talking to the staff on a weekly basis.

“I try to speak to them like once a week,” Davis said of his talks with Florida. “Their staff is real cool. Coach Rat (Keiwan Ratliff) reached out to me not too long ago. I try to keep a nice relationship with them.”

The Gators coaching staff has explained to Davis just how they see him fitting into the Gators defense if he comes to Florida

“They mainly see me playing that safety position as well,” he said on where Florida wants him to play. “I feel like I can fit in with what they run on defense under Coach Mullen.”

Next up for Davis is a visit to Gainesville and he hopes that comes soon as he has family ties to the state of Florida.

“Hopefully this spring,” Davis said on when he plans to visit Florida. “My grandmother retired to Florida and lives in Tampa so hopefully I can get down there this spring.”

Despite not visiting Florida, Davis knows a few things about the Gators and he grew up watching past Florida teams.

“I just know they’re DBU,” he said on what he knows about Florida. “I grew up watching Florida. I grew up watching [Tim] Tebow play there.”
