Davis has the Florida Gators leading his recruitment

On Saturday, several top prospects in the Class of 2024 were on campus to watch the Florida Gators go through spring practice.

Safety Josiah Davis (6-1, 185, Nashville, GA. Berrien) was in town for his first visit to Gainesville and enjoyed getting to see everything the Gators have to offer.

“It was great,” Davis said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “I took a tour of the school around campus, talked to the coaches, watched spring practice, took some pictures and then went to the basketball game.”

Davis was able to watch practice and he liked how the Gators’ coaching staff coached and the energy the team brought to the field.

“It was great, they had a lot of energy coming into the first practice,” he said of Florida’s practice on Saturday. “It was great to watch Coach [Corey] Raymond and Coach [Jay] Bateman, they did a great job of teaching the guys what to do. I liked it.”

Linebackers coach Jay Bateman has been the main recruiter for Davis so far and he explained just how the Gators want to use the safety if he picks Florida.

“Coach Bateman is who I talked to the most,” Davis said. “He said they would love to have me down there and stuff like that. I can play all over the field, but he likes me at safety. He can roll me down sometimes at weak safety and then play me at free safety sometimes too.”

Head coach Billy Napier also had a message for Davis about the Gators program and why he’s needed in Gainesville.

“He said that he would really love for me to be down there with him,” he said on Napier’s message to him. “He loves my film, I’m a great player and a great person in general. He said I’m a big need.”

After the visit, Davis says the Florida Gators are sitting in a great spot for him because of several factors that he likes about Florida.

“Florida is at my number one spot right now,” Davis said on where Florida stands with him. “I liked the environment and the people around there and how they ran practice. I love the coaches.”
