Davis enjoys the Florida Gators atmosphere in the Swamp

The Orange and Blue game had a lot of top prospects in Gainesville as the Florida Gators coaching staff finished up a spring loaded with visitors on campus.

One of those guys on campus was 2020 defensive back Fred Davis (6-1, 174, Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian) who enjoyed the fans and atmosphere in the Swamp.

“The atmosphere was pretty good,” Davis said of the atmosphere at the spring game. “It was my first time really coming to a game. I met some of the fans, signed autographs, they showed love.”

Davis had the chance to talk to several coaches including head coach Dan Mullen while on campus for the spring game.

“I was talking to some of the coaches and doing a photo shoot,” he said on what all he got to do on the visit. “We [Mullen and Davis] talked, he asked me how the visit was and he was looking forward to talking to me more.”

This was the first time on campus since the Gators offered Davis and he likes the distance from home Florida is for him.

“Florida is a traditional school,” Davis said on what he likes about Florida. “I live like an hour away so it would be a blessing to be here and see if I have a future here. I’m looking for early playing time and good education.”

After the visit, Davis didn’t want to name any leaders but admitted a few schools are recruiting him hard with one school recruiting him the hardest.

“I’m just enjoying the process right now,” Davis said of teams standing out. “Miami is recruiting me the hardest. Florida, South Carolina and Alabama [schools also recruiting him hard] are to.”

This summer, Davis plans to visit several schools including the Gators and two others.

“I’m trying to visit Miami more and here [Florida],” he said on other visits. “Alabama to.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Davis is one of the top players in the state for the 2020 class and someone that Florida is starting to recruit hard. Right now Miami is the early team to beat but Davis is far from making a decision.
