Last Saturday, 17 of the Florida Gators’ commits were in Gainesville to take part in the Grill in the Ville cookout event to end the summer.
Defensive back commit Josiah Davis (6-1, 185, Nashville, GA. Berrien) was on campus and enjoyed the laid-back event on Saturday.
“It was great, just a real chill day,” Davis said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “We had fun, we had a lot of activities to do, fun games and competitions of course. It was a great experience for me.”
Davis and the rest of the visitors were split into teams to compete before eating on Saturday and the defensive back says that was a big part of the day for him.
“Just the games, that was really the highlight of the day,” he said on the highlight. “Just the competition, we came in second place.”
This was the third time for Davis to visit campus since committing and he says the experience as a commit is different than being an uncommitted prospect.
“It was very different because I was communicating with all of the committed guys,” he said on how a visit is different from being uncommitted to committed. “We just bonded as a family today.”
While on campus, Davis and the rest of the commits were trying to recruit other prospects including one guy in particular from the 2024 class.
“We’re trying to get him to commit,” Davis said on trying to get Wardell Mack. “I think he’s going to choose the Gators. I was also trying to get Duke Johnson, he’s a 25, and he goes to Dodge County. We play each other.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Davis says he has shut down his recruitment and he should be back in town for a game this fall.
