Darlington hired as quality control coach for tight ends

Ty Darlington has joined the Gators’ staff as a quality control coach who will work with the tight ends.

He spent the last five seasons on the staff at Oklahoma, his alma mater. He was an offensive analyst from 2017-19 and a graduate assistant from 2020-21. He served as the interim quarterbacks coach in the 2021 Alamo Bowl, and Caleb Williams completed 21 of 27 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

The Apopka, Florida, native played in 37 games at center for the Sooners from 2012-15 and started 26 games. He was named First Team All-Big 12 by the coaches as a senior, while the media voted him to the second team.

Darlington, 27, was also named the Big 12 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and he won the Wuerffel Trophy and Campbell Trophy.

He signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2016 but was cut prior to the season. He then joined the Oklahoma athletic department as an administrative fellow, and he also had a role with Sooner Sports TV before starting his coaching career a year later.
