Danos joins UF as director of player athletic development

Head coach Billy Napier has hired Joe Danos as the director of player athletic development. In this role, Danos will assist Director of Strength and Conditioning Mark Hocke in the weight room.

Danos served as the head strength and conditioning coach for MLS team Inter Miami Futbol Club in 2020 and 2021.

Prior to that, he worked for the New York Giants as a strength and conditioning assistant coach and a performance manager from 2013-19.

He was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Jimbo Fisher at Florida State from 2010-12. He helped develop the Seminoles into a team that won the national championship in 2013.

Before FSU, Danos worked as a student strength and conditioning assistant coach at LSU from 2000-04 and as a full-time assistant strength coach in 2005 and 2006. He worked at SMU from 2007-09 before joining Fisher’s staff.

As an athlete, he was the national junior weightlifting champion in 1996.

Danos is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a certified coach by USA Weightlifting. Additionally, he is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Weightlifting.
