ATLANTA- Coach Dan Mullen spoke to the media on Tuesday as he took his turn at SEC Media Days in Atlanta.

Mullen touched on a numerous of topics about the Florida Gators including the quarterback position and other things.

GatorCountry is live in Atlanta and brings you a quick notebook to recap what Mullen had to say on Tuesday.

  • Mullen says he didn’t have to recruit Martez Ivey and CeCe Jefferson much to come back to school but that he made sure to tell them he wanted them back. Mullen said that they needed to be all in on whatever decision they made.
  • The players have had minimal resistance when buying into the program and discipline. That’s one of things that Mullen pointed to when talking about the culture change.
  • When asked about the quarterbacks, Mullen says they seem to be working hard but they can’t be with them this summer while they’re throwing due to NCAA rules.
  • Whoever gives Florida the best opportunity to win football games.
  • Mullen calls it’s rough duty that Florida has been ranked in the 100’s the last 7-8 years on offense. But does point to the fact that Florida was in the SEC Championship game twice. He says you have to win football games.
  • When asked if quarterbacks will get hit any this fall, Mullen says they will get hit a couple times. He says he has to make sure they’re tough.
  • Mullen says this team is capable of being a contender year one. He says that’s what he’s at Florida to do is to win championships.
  • Fitting an offense around the quarterback is what Mullen says is key to making a good quarterback. Mullen says developing those guys and their traits around the offense is important.
  • Nothing new on the status of the transfers but Mullen says they hope to announce in the near future. He calls it a “process.”
  • Building stability is something that Mullen says will have make things fun again. He says players come to Florida knowing the tradition and guys were shell shocked over the last few years.
  • Mullen says he would love to name a starting quarterback today but that he has to see who separates themselves this fall.
  • There’s a 50/50 chance that you could see two quarterbacks in game one according to Mullen as he says right now there’s three guys coming out of the spring.
  • Mullen says he wouldn’t call the Florida brand damaged but he says it hasn’t been updated. He says in today’s world the brand is always changing.
