Crawshaw Named to “Ray’s 8” for Week One Performance

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators punter Jeremy Crawshaw was named one of the Ray Guy Award’s “Ray’s 8” for week one, highlighting his outstanding efforts for Florida’s special teams during the Gators’ week one contest with Miami.

The Australian native’s number was called on to punt a total of five times against Miami, and he dropped three kicks inside the 20-yard line with two for 50+ yards. His longest punt of the day went for 61 yards to Miami’s 7-yard line and returned to the 14-yard line where long snapper Rocco Underwood secured the tackle. His best field position of the day came in the first quarter, when his 38-yard lob landed in the hands of Chimere Dike at the Miami 3-yard line.

“He’s a weapon,” Florida special teams analyst Joe Houston said on Crawshaw. “His statistics from last year speak volumes of the player he is, you don’t lead the conference in net punting on accident. That’s a weapon from a defensive perspective, creating a long field for our opposition’s offense and Jeremy’s got that unique ability to flip the field.”

2024 is Crawshaw’s fifth season with Florida and fourth as the Gators starting punter. The 2023 campaign saw Crashaw set career and single season program records in career average yards per punt (46.7) and single-season yards per punt (48.9). He was named to the AP All-SEC Second-Team at the end of last season. Crashaw also earned preseason honors from CFN, Athlon Sports, Sporting News and Phil Steele.

The “Ray’s 8” list recognizes four collegiate punters each week. From the group of four, fans determine which punter should be named Punter of the Week by voting on the Ray Guy Award website. Florida fans can vote for Crawshaw to win Punter of the Week at this link.
