Cottrell very interested in the Florida Gators his “dream school”

Over the last few weeks, the Florida Gators coaching staff has been very active in offering instate prospects in the Class of 2023 in hopes of getting them on campus this summer.

Last week 2023 receiver Raymond Cottrell (6-3, 205, Milton, FL. High) picked up an offer after he talked to an assistant coach.

“Coach [Billy] Gonzales, the wide receivers coach,” Cottrell said on the coach who offered him. “They told me they see potential in me playing in their offense, they’re going to be throwing the ball a lot and they need me in their offense.”

Cottrell has been waiting on an offer from the Gators and he was excited and surprised by the news last week.

“It meant a lot, they’re my dream school,” he said on what the offer means to him. “They’re somewhere that I’ve been wanting to go to for a long time, I expected it but I didn’t expect the offer to come as soon as it did.”

Receivers coach Billy Gonzales explained to Cottrell last week just how he would fit into Florida’s offense if he were to choose the Gators.

“Probably more outside,” Cottrell said on where Gonzales wants him to play. “He wants to move me all over the field to try and get me the ball as much as he can in the offense.”

Cottrell has been watching a lot of Florida games his entire life and he’s impressed by the offense under Dan Mullen.

“I think of it very highly since I’ve been watching them,” he said on his thoughts on the offense. “They don’t try to just get one person the ball, they try to get everyone involved including the tight ends, slot, and the receivers.”

The Milton prospect doesn’t hide the fact that he likes Florida a lot and now he plans to visit Gainesville next month.

“My interest is very high because it’s my dream school,” Cottrell said of his interest in Florida. “Just watching them, my dad has always been a fan so I grew up a fan of them too. I’m going to visit them on June 25th.”
