Conner ready to visit the Florida Gators and Billy Napier

The new Florida Gators’ coaching staff was out on the road again on Wednesday making several different visits to prospects around the southeast.

Offensive line commit David Conner (6-6, 270, Deerfield Beach, FL. High) received a visit from Coach Ashour Peera who joined the staff in an off the field role.
“It was great,” Conner said on Florida visiting him on Wednesday. “It really eased my mind; I was so worried about getting dropped or losing my scholarship but knowing that they’re still interested in me and want me to come to the school means a lot.”

Peera talked to Conner about making an adjustment to the new coaching staff and making sure they could adjust to a new scheme.

“He was talking about was I comfortable working in a new scheme and was I comfortable getting to know new people,” he said on the message from Peera’s message to him. “I told him that I did that when I came to Florida, I got in a new scheme, met new coaches and met new people. I’m ready to make it.”

Head coach Billy Napier has also spoken with Conner this week as they try to get to know each other before he arrives in Gainesville this weekend.

“Me and Coach Napier have been talking this week,” Conner said on talking to Napier. “He didn’t come with him today [Wednesday] but we’ve been talking about getting up there and getting everything squared away.”

Conner has noticed other commits leaving the class but the offensive line commit says that doesn’t play a role in his decision.

“It doesn’t have an effect on me,” he said on if seeing the other commits leave the class has had an impact on him. “At the end of the day what they do isn’t my concern, I’m trying to get ready for the next level and do what’s best for me. Best of luck to them but I’m just ready to go do my thing.”

Next up for Conner will be an official visit to Gainesville this weekend as he looks to meets the new coaching staff.

“I can’t wait to get up there in two days,” Conner said on his official visit to Florida. “I’m just trying to get to know them, signing day is next week and I will be on campus in January, so I just want to get to know them in the next month.”
