Conner excited to receive a Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators coaching staff sent out two new offers on Saturday to offensive line prospects as they continue to expand their board at the position.

Offensive lineman David Conner (6-6, 270, Deerfield Beach, FL. High) was one of those guys who picked up the offer after he talked to the Gators head coach himself.

“Coach [Dan] Mullen did,” Conner said on the coach from Florida who offered him on Saturday. “He just said he loves my athleticism, the aggression I have, the way I play and the improvement I’ve made from my previous years. They’re excited about me.”

Conner has had a feeling that an offer from Florida was coming but now that he has the offer, the lineman is excited about the opportunity.

“It means everything,” he said on what the offer means to him. “They’re definitely on top for me, I’m excited about the offer. I knew I was going to get this offer, but I didn’t know it was going to take this long.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy worked Conner out twice this year and explained to the lineman just why the Gators like him and where he could play at in Gainesville.

“The workout went really good with him, he said I was real athletic,” Conner said on the feedback he received from Hevesy during his workout with Florida. “He says I can move real well, I’m big and he says it’s always good to have someone that big who can move. He loves me at left tackle.”

Conner has had the chance to be around the coaching staff multiple times now and the welcoming feeling he receives from the staff is what catches the lineman’s attention.

“It’s a family feel, when I got there, they were very welcoming,” he said on his impressions of the coaching staff. “They greeted me, all of the coaches did and it’s just a family feeling. I loved it.”

Now that Conner has the offer from Florida, the lineman says the Gators are out in front because of Coach Hevesy.

“Florida is at the top,” Conner said. “I really like Coach Hevesy, when I went there for the workout, he wasn’t just working me out, but he was helping me and showing me things.”

Next up for Conner will be his decision and he plans to make that in eight days and he will pick between three schools.

“August 17th,” he said on when he will decide. “I will pick from Maryland, Arizona and Florida. I’m looking at the environment, the schools my family loves and the best fit for me.”
