Colorado defensive back Cormani McClain commits to the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators hosted one of the top prospects from the 2023 class on campus this week after he decided to enter the transfer portal this spring.

Colorado defensive back Cormani McClain was on campus at Florida this week after he visited Gainesville on Friday to meet with the coaching staff.

McClain was one of the top players in the country in the Class of 2023 and picked Colorado over Florida out of Lakeland High School.

The defensive back went to Colorado and played in 13 games and accounted for 13 tackles and two pass break-ups but McClain and Deion Sanders had several disagreements that led to the defensive back entering the transfer portal.

McClain committed to Florida on Wednesday and will be a walk-on with the Gators as Billy Napier and his coaching staff will give the defensive back a chance to earn a scholarship.

The addition of McClain is a low-risk high reward situation as McClain clearly has talent and the staff hopes a fresh start and being close to home will help the defensive back both on and off the field.

McClain joins a defensive back room that should be much improved this year under new assistant coach Will Harris .
