The Florida Gators picked up their 16th commitment on Sunday when they picked up an instate commitment.
Athlete Charles Montgomery (5-10, 185, Seffner, FL. Armwood) committed to Florida over Maryland on Sunday afternoon.
“This decision is it, I’ll be committing to the University of Florida,” Montgomery said.
Montgomery took a virtual visit this past week but was last on campus in March for the Gators big junior day where he enjoyed the visit.
“It was great, we toured the campus,” Montgomery said of his in March. “I loved them [coaches]. Coach Mullen, words can’t even explain how great he is. Hopefully we have a tight connection but I’m pretty certain we’ll be close at the end of the day.”
Florida has to overcome Montgomery’s early love for Florida State as a child but that all changed when the Gators offered him.
“Actually I grew up a Florida State fan but tables have turned since this recruiting has been going on,” Montgomery said of his Florida offer in March. “It was honestly crazy but I was beyond excited to receive it.”
The Gators are recruiting Montgomery as an athlete as the Armwood prospect plays some running back as well as some receiver in high school.
As a junior Montgomery accounted for 31 carries for 301 yards and six touchdowns as a running back and at receiver he added 41 catches for 720 yards and eight touchdowns.
