Chamblee shocked to pick up a Florida Gators offer

This week has been busy for the Florida Gators coaching staff as a lot of out of state offers have gone out from the staff.

2022 offensive lineman Andrew Chamblee (6-6, 284, Maumelle, AR. High) was one of those who picked up an offer from the Gators on Sunday.

Coach [John] Hevesy did,” Chamblee said on the coach who offered him. “We just talked about each other and he said they watched my film and said how great it was.”

Chamblee wasn’t expecting the offer but it’s a big one to him, as his older brother likes the Gators despite him attending Arkansas.

“I was in shock,” he said of his reaction to the offer. “It means a lot to me especially with my brother loving them and he almost went there.”

Offensive line coach John Hevesy explained to Chamblee on Sunday why the Gators like his game and where he could potentially play.

“We didn’t get into much detail but he said I would be a great fit for their offense,” Chamblee said of the message from Hevesy. “He likes my mobility and the way I finish at the tackle position.”

Chamblee watched the Gators’ offense this past year and was impressed by Dan Mullen’s offense and what they accomplished.

“They had a solid offense,” he said on his thoughts on Florida last year. “Coach Mullen knows what he’s doing and he’s going to have another good year.”

Arkansas is a team to watch for Chamblee but the lineman says he wants to visit Florida and learn more about the Gators program.

“I’m very interested,” Chamblee said of his interest in Florida. “I don’t know much about their history other than [Tim] Tebow played there but I want to visit.”
