Carter says his Florida Gators offer means a lot

On Saturday, the Florida Gators handed out a new offer to an underclassman in the state of Florida.

2023 athlete Lewis Carter (6-0, 200, Tampa, FL. Catholic) picked up the offer after he talked to one of the Gators assistant coaches and his area recruiter.

“Coach Greg Knox the running back coach offered me,” Carter said on who offered him on Saturday. “When he offered, he said he likes my game and wherever I will be successful is where I’ll be on the field whether it’s offense or defense. I can play on either side of the ball and wherever the team will me at.”

This is the 21st offer for Carter already but he says receiving an offer from Florida is a big one to him.

“This offer means a lot to me,” he said on what the offer means to him. “It’s a big one to remember when getting the offer it makes me see all the hard work I’m putting in is paying off, it’s also motivation to me. I was very excited when I got the offer but at the same time I know I put in the work to be able to receive the offer.”

Carter actually received the news after a face-to-face meeting with Knox through zoom on Saturday.

“We had a zoom call, it was like I was family and he seems like a great coach but an even better man,” Carter said on his call with Knox. “It was a great feeling, he seems like he understands the grind and the life of a student-athlete. It was a great eye to eye experience with a coach.”

The Tampa athlete hasn’t visited Florida before but he does know a good amount of things about the Gators.

“I’m very interested in Florida, I’ve been looking into Florida since middle school,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I mean the Gators have a good amount of players from Tampa over here where I’m from. Also, I know that Florida has a good amount of majors and also that they produce a lot of NFL athletes.

Florida has some other competition for Carter early on in his recruitment but the athlete wants to learn more about the Gators.

“It’s a couple of others instate and out of state that’s recruiting me hard,” Carter said. “I plan on visiting Florida and some other schools.”
