Several prospects committed to other schools were on campus on Saturday to watch the Florida Gators open the season against the Miami Hurricanes.
Ohio State defensive line commit Jarquez Carter (6-2, 284, Newberry, FL. High) was on campus and enjoyed the game in general.
“Honestly, it was a great game,” Carter said of the game on Saturday. “Both defensive lines played good, overall just a good game.”
In the past, Carter has said he wanted to see how the Gators did this fall and how the defensive line played and after the game, the defensive lineman says he believes he made the right decision with the Buckeyes.
“Based off of watching the game, I feel like where I’m at and where I choose is 100% the move after watching the game,” he said on if Florida did anything to improve its chances with him.
Carter believes that the defensive line needs to step-up in multiple ways going forward this season.
“They need to be more aggressive up-front,” Carter said on what the defense needs to improve on. “More pressure on the quarterback and they need to tackle better in the backfield.”
The Ohio State commit came into the game expecting a good game but he says the Canes came out of the gate wanting it more.
“I wouldn’t say I expected it but Miami looked more hungry coming out of the gate,” he said on if he thought Florida would play better in the game. “The team that’s more hungry, you usually see them come out with the win.”
Before the game, Carter had the chance to talk with several off the field staff members who had a message for him.
“They say they’re going to keep fighting until December,” Carter said on the message from the staff on Saturday.
Next up for Carter will be more visits including one to the school he’s currently committed to.
“Most likely, I will be back,” he said on if he plans to visit for another game. “I’m going to be at the UCF/Colorado game and then I’m going to Ohio State but I’m not sure what game yet.”
