Campbell breaks down last week’s Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators have been busy as of late with offering several underclassmen as they’re almost done with their 2021 class already.

2022 defensive end Jihaad Campbell (6-4, 220, Sicklerville, NJ. Timber Creek) picked up an offer from Florida after he talked to one of the Gators assistant coaches last week.

“Coach [David] Turner offered me,” Campbell said. “He said he’s excited for me and he likes my game and the way I’m explosive and strong off the ball at my position.”

Campbell has several big offers already but he was grateful to receive an offer from the Gators last week.

“The offer means a lot to me and my family,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I especially want to thank Coach Turner for recognizing my talents. My reaction was amazing, I couldn’t feel anything other than happiness.”

Defensive line coach David Turner explained to Campbell last week just how he would fit into the Gators defense if he picks Florida for college.

“I would play defensive end in their defensive scheme of play,” Campbell said on where Turner wants him to play. “I would be playing both standing up end and in a 3-point stance and I would possibly be moving around some.”

Campbell doesn’t know a lot about the Gators in general but he does know a good bit about Turner and the Gators defense.

“Coach Turner is a great coach with a lot of defensive line knowledge,” he said on what he knows about Florida and Turner. “I know that they have 3 down linemen with 2 outside linebackers controlling the C gap and that Jevon Kearse played there and he controlled the game.”

Now that Campbell has an offer from Florida, he admits he has interest in the Gators and several other programs.

“I have interest in Florida,” Campbell said of his interest in Florida and other schools. “Rutgers, Clemson, Ole Miss, Michigan and a couple others are recruiting me hard.”
