Caleb Douglas breaks down his Florida Gators offer

Monday was the first day for the new Florida Gators’ coaches to hit the road recruiting and they spent the day seeing several new prospects.

Receiver Caleb Douglas (6-3, 185, Missouri City, TX. Hightower) received a visit from new quarterbacks’ coach/analyst Ryan O’Hara on Monday.

“It was Coach Ryan O’Hara, the quarterback coach,” Douglas said on Florida visiting him on Monday. “It was great, it surprised me how tall he was, we had a couple of laughs about that. They liked me at ULL and they wanted to offer me again at Florida.”

While visiting Douglas on Monday, O’Hara offered the receiver a scholarship to Florida which was the first one given out by the new coaching staff.

“It means a lot, it means I’m a priority,” he said on what it means to pick up the offer from Napier’s staff. “They’ve only been there a night and day so for them to come see and offer me, I took that very well.”

O’Hara explained to Douglas on Monday just how he would fit into the Gators’ offense if he picked Florida for college.

“He was telling me how I would be a great fit in their offense,” Douglas said on the message from O’Hara. “He didn’t say too much, he just said that I’m a big, long receiver that can fit into their scheme well.”

Douglas was recruited by Napier and his staff at Louisiana Lafayette so there’s a little relationship there already, but they plan to continue to build on that.

“We don’t have a huge relationship but we’re still building that relationship,” he said on his relationship with the staff. “They’re going to get back to me later this week so we can talk more.”

Next up for Douglas will be deciding where to take official visits too as the receiver is looking to see which schools continue to recruit him hard after the coaching changes.

“I’m signing in February,” Douglas said on what’s next for him. “Maybe, most likely I will get down there and visit, I haven’t talked to them about that yet.”
