Byron Cowart pushing himself towards best school

Armwood High defensive end Byron Cowart is ready to fit right into a college. Now the question just remains, which college will that be?

With offers from Florida, Florida State, Alabama and Auburn among others and the ability to be versatile at DE, Cowart has become somewhat of a new toy that everyone wants for Christmas.

Due to ties with current players, Florida seems to be the school most linked to Cowart, but Auburn and FSU have made late pushes; leading to Cowart walking into the UA-AA game registration with a Chuckie doll he bought from Hot Topic (the doll is a Gators defense tradition started by Dominique Easley) and wearing FSU shorts.

Why?

“Gotta keep everybody happy”, he says.

Ah, recruiting season.

GatorCountry caught up with Cowart after a Under-Armour game practice and discussed the doll, the shorts, his impressions of Geoff Collins, what he’ll bring to a school and what he’s looking for in one as well.

Cowart says he’ll commit on National Signing Day which is February 4, 2015.

Watch the video below for the full interview and much more from Byron Cowart.

  1. I’m more and more impressed with him with each interview. Seems like a good dude, with a good head on his shoulders. A good leader. Where ever he goes it seems like an avalanche of top tier recruits will follow. God, I hope it’s us.
