Buchanan impressed by the Swamp during his UF visit

On Saturday night, the Florida Gators defeated the Charlotte 49ers, and several big-time prospects were on campus in the Swamp including several highly rated underclassmen.

2025 offensive lineman Max Buchanan (6-4, 275, Sanford, FL. Seminole) was on campus and enjoyed his first time in the Swamp in over a year.

“First game this year, last year I was at the spring game and the Utah game,” Buchanan said of his visit to Florida on Saturday. “It was a good game, definitely some things they can work on.”

Head coach Billy Napier met with Buchanan before the game as well as both offensive line coaches who welcomed the lineman back to Gainesville.

“I was talking to Coach Napier for a little bit,” he said on talking to the coaches. “I talked to Coach [Rob] Sale and Coach [Darnell] Stapleton, and they were both just glad that I was back out there again. They were glad that I was able to see how the Swamp really is.”

Buchanan paid close attention to the offensive line during the game and liked how the game accepted responsibility for some of the mistakes that were made during the game.

“The offensive line was taking accountability for the problems they had,” Buchanan said on what he liked about the offensive line. “Games are hard to win, 50% of the teams win and 50% of the team lose. It’s hard so stuff is going to happen.”

The offensive line was impressed by the energy inside the stadium last Saturday and also envisioned himself as a player inside the Swamp.

“It’s the Swamp,” Buchanan said on what he likes about Florida. “The lights, the fans, the sound of the crowd, it’s all amazing to me. During walk-through I was sitting there thinking about how I would go through all the stuff they go through.”

Next up for Buchanan will be several more game visits including getting to see the Gators again but this time it will be on the road.

“I will be at the LSU/Florida game at LSU,” he said on other visits this fall. “I will be at the FSU/Duke game, I will be at the Miami/Virginia game, and I plan on going up to Clemson for the Notre Dame game.”

After the visit to Gainesville, Buchanan says the Gators are regarded high in his recruitment because of several reasons.

“They’re definitely up there,” Buchanan said on where Florida stands for him. “It’s Florida, born and raised in Florida. I wouldn’t say I grew up a particular college fan, but I always watched Florida. They have a certain place in my heart.”
