Brownlee hears from the Florida Gators daily

The Florida Gators have been lighting it up on the defensive side of the ball the last two weeks on the road and that has caught several players’ attention around the country.

Miami defensive back commit Jarvis Brownlee (5-10, 169, Miami, FL. Carol City) is one of those guys who have been watching Florida closely as the Gators staff has been talking to him a lot.

“I’ve been talking with Coach [Todd] Grantham, Coach Mullen, Coach [Charlton] Warren and Coach [Brian] Johnson,” Brownlee said of the coaches he talks to from Florida. “I talk to them everyday, they send me a quote or two everyday just getting me ready for the day. They showing me the love, the love is definitely there.”

Head coach Dan Mullen speaks with Brownlee regularly and he has a simple but to the point question for the Miami commit.

“He always ask me if I’m ready to be a Gator yet,” he said on Mullen’s message to him. “He just tells me little things like that all the time.”

Defensive backs coach Charlton Warren has been the one explaining to Brownlee how much he’s needed in Gainesville.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Warren and he’s been telling me about the depth chart and things like that,” Brownlee said on if the defensive staff has explained a need to him. “He said that he likes me at corner in press and that he thinks I can play early for them.”

Brownlee has been watching the last two Gators games on TV and he has liked what he has seen from the Florida defense.

“They’ve been showing up,” he said on Florida’s defense the last two games. “They’re always looking to get better but the defense has been impressive. I’ve seen all the turnovers that they’ve created.”

The Miami commit was in Gainesville for the Kentucky game and he says that while Florida is on his mind, he’s still loyal to the Hurricanes.

“I’m still 100 percent committed to Miami,” Brownlee said of his commitment status to Miami. “Florida is definitely right behind them.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Brownlee said that he has to take his test on Saturday morning and then he’s going to try and visit Miami for the FSU game. Brownlee says he also plans to get back to Gainesville for another game this year.
