Brown has the Florida Gators high in his recruitment

The Florida Gators hosted nine official visitors this weekend on the last weekend before early national signing day.

Receiver Sam Brown (6-2, 186, Bloomingdale, GA. New Hampstead) was one of those guys on campus this weekend and he enjoyed the visit and the early playing time available in Gainesville.

“I loved it, they showed me a lot of love,” Brown said of his visit to Florida. “I can see myself playing here. Playing early is a major role for me, I at least want to get my feet wet in college and get my stock up and see how it is. That plays a major role.”

While on campus, the Gators showed Brown how they spread the ball around and the receiver like the stats that backed that up.

“They’ve got like six receivers with over 20 receptions,” he said on Florida distributing the ball around. “They’re throwing the ball.”

Receivers coach Billy Gonzales offered Brown earlier this week and the receiver says the Gators coach has been following his game closely.

“Good, throughout the whole process, he has been telling me to be patient,” Brown said on his relationship with Gonzales. “Early on, he seen that I was raw at receiver, I just started playing football my 10th grade year so I’m still raw and he seen that. He trusted me and extended out an offer to me recently.”

Gonzales explained to Brown this week why Florida was offering the receiver and what they liked about him.

“He seen I got better every week,” he said on what Gonzales liked about his senior year. “I never gave up, he kept up with the games, we wasn’t doing the best but I was still doing my best on every snap.”

This was the second time on campus this year for Brown and he likes the environment in Gainesville.

“Just the environment,” Brown said on what he likes about Florida. “Gator Nation is for real down here, everybody loves the Gator Nation.”

Heading into the trip, Brown was unsure of when he would sign but he plans to figure that out in the coming days.

“I’ve got to go back and talk to my parents about that,” he said on when he will sign. “The plan was to sign in December and it still may be that or I might sign in February.”

Now that Brown has visited Gainesville, the receivers says the Gators are high on his list of schools.

“The top,” he said on where Florida is at in his recruitment. “They’re a top school for me, I’m looking at Georgia, Ole Miss, Florida, West Virginia and Oregon.”
