Brown has a good relationship with the Florida Gators coaching staff

Tuesday was the first-day college coaches could contact 2022 prospects and the Florida Gators coaching staff was busy.

One of the first calls made on Tuesday by Florida was to 2022 quarterback Jacurri Brown (6-4, 205, Valdosta, GA. Lowndes) who talked to two coaches.

“Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Brian] Johnson talked to me,” Brown said on the coaches who reached out to him at midnight on Tuesday. “They just want me to be a Gator and I’m the guy for ’22 and just be ready to be recruited hard.”

Brown is one of the Gators’ top targets and he says his relationship with Florida is a good one.

“It’s pretty good,” he said on his relationship with those coaches. “I talk to Coach Johnson almost every week, he’s a really good coach from what I’ve observed and seems like a loving and caring husband and father. I met his family.”

When Brown and Johnson talk, the conversation doesn’t always center around football as they’re able to talk about all things in life.

“It’s more than just football, we talk about anything from football to basketball and things like that,” Brown said on his talks with Johnson. “We hit on a lot with all the things that’s going on in the world. Football is like a safe haven for guys and we share our opinions and talk things out.”

Johnson has explained to Brown just how he would fit into the Gators offense and what to expect.

“They want me to play just like any Dan Mullen quarterback, he’s going to play to my strength and center the offense around me,” he said on how Florida sees him fitting into the offense. “I think I fit great, I mean I would hope a offense would be centered around the quarterback as a quarterback has got to be the best player on the field at all times.”

Brown has spoken highly of Florida since he picked up an offer from the Gators but he says several other programs are also recruiting him hard right now.

“I hold them high on my list,” Brown said of his interest in Florida. “Ohio State, Arizona State, Miami, and Clemson are recruiting me hard.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Brown says he will make a commitment after the dead period is over and he can take visits to the schools recruiting him hard.
