Brooks sees the need for DB’s for the Florida Gators

Not only were there several top targets at defensive back for the 2019 class on hand for Friday Night Lights but the 2020 class was well represented as well for the Florida Gators big camp last Friday.

2020 defensive back Miles Brooks (6-2, 171, Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian) was one on hand and it was because of how hard Dan Mullen and others have been recruiting him.

“Coach [Charlton] Warren and Coach Mullen show a lot of love,” Brooks said on why he visited Florida. “That’s really the reason that I decided to come up here.”

Defensive backs coach Charlton Warren is not only the position coach for Brooks but also his area recruiter and they talk a lot.

“Coach Warren,” he said on the coach from Florida recruiting him the hardest. “He keeps it real and he says I can come in and make an impact early. He likes to compare me to some of the players they have now. He always keeps it 100 and I know he’s looking out for me and he’s going to do what’s best for me.”

Warren has explained to Brooks the big need for defensive backs in the class of 2020 and that’s something that has the Jacksonville native’s attention.

“Always,” Brooks said on if the lack of depth at Florida plays into his mind. “You have CJ [Henderson], Marco [Wilson] they will be out in three and out for sure so I know my turn I can come in and play real early. Florida is the original DBU so they know what they’re doing and getting players out to the league.”

The Gators aren’t the only school heavily after Brooks as several other top targets are after him.

“Ohio State, Florida State, Alabama, Florida and Miami,” he said on the schools recruiting him the hardest. “They’re showing a lot of love and making me feel at home but Florida is also doing the same thing. That’s really what I’m looking for.”

When it gets time for Brooks to make a decision, the 2020 defensive back knows exactly what he’s looking for in a school.

“Really coming in and making an impact early,” Brooks said on what he’s looking for in a program. “Where I feel like I’m the most comfortable and where I can better myself on the field and off the field at.”

Brooks says he wants to take several unofficial visits this fall already knows what game he wants to visit Gainesville for.

“LSU,” he said on the game he plans to get to this year for Florida.

INSIDERS TAKE: Brooks says he has family from the Ohio area and that he grew up watching Ohio State a lot. The Buckeyes have done well at Trinity Christian as of late and are definitely a team to watch.
