Bonelli breaks down his first offer that he received from the Florida Gators

On Monday, the Florida Gators were very active in offering prospects in South Florida as they continue to build their 2023 recruiting board.

2023 receiver Jaylen Bonelli (5-11, 153, Fort Lauderdale, FL. St. Thomas Aquinas) was one of four players from St. Thomas to pick up an offer after a Gators assistant reach out to his high school.

“Coach [Garrick] McGee offered me,” Bonelli said. “He didn’t talk to me, he talked to my head coach, and my coach relayed the message to me about the offer.”

This was the first offer for Bonelli and the receiver was excited to hear the news and had to tell his family.

“It honestly means a whole lot, I ran to my dad’s room and told him, I was super excited,” he said on what the offer means to him. “Me and my teammates that also got the offer have talked about going to that school one day together.”

Bonelli didn’t speak to quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee but the Gators’ assistant coach did have a message for the receiver.

“He said he [McGee] wants to see us develop and consistently do the right things on and off the field,” Bonelli said on what McGee told his coach. “I’m going to talk to him soon.”

The 2023 receiver wants to visit Florida and Bonelli says he has a lot of interest in the Gators for a few reasons in particular.

“It’s a very great school and I like the tradition of the school and it’s in Florida,” he said on what he likes about Florida. “I want to major in business in college and I heard that Florida is a great school for it.”
