Blissett says his Florida Gators offer means a lot

Last week the Florida Gators handed out a few underclassmen offers and also offered a 2019 prospect at a position of need.

Defensive lineman Jason Blissett (6-3, 271, Brooklyn, NY. Poly Prep) was offered by defensive line coach Sal Sunseri last week.

“Coach Sal, the defensive line coach offered,” Blissett on the coach from Florida who offered him late last week. “He said that they think I’m a great player who is very athletic and brings a lot to Florida.”

Blissett who has several big offers was excited to get the offer from Florida last week.

“It means a lot to me,” he said of what the offer from Florida means to him. “Florida is a great school in the football world and I’m glad they recognized my talents. It really means a lot.”

Sunseri spoke with Blissett last week about how the Gators would use the defensive lineman in the Gators defense.

“He sees me as a 3 or 5 technique,” he said of Sunseri’s message on where he would play.

The Gators assistant coach explained to Blissett last week exactly why the Gators were offering him.

“Not necessarily a big need but that they’re very selective about who they offer,” Blissett said on if Sunseri’s expressed a big need for him. “He said that I could help them a lot as an organization.”

Blissett is a new name on the Gators recruiting board but the defensive lineman learned a little bit about Sunseri last week during their phone call.

“This is the first time,” he said on if he has talked with Sunseri and if he knows anything about him. “I don’t know much really however he told me that he has coached linemen at the highest level and won 3 national championships and coached in the NFL. He has a son that played at Alabama and lives in Jersey and is passionate about football to.”

Now that the Gators have offered Blissett the defensive lineman is talking about making a trip to Gainesville.

“I’m not 100% sure yet but I most likely will,” Blissett said on if he plans to visit Florida.

The Gators will likely try to get Blissett on campus this fall but it will be after he makes a commitment to another school.

“Yes I plan on committing on September 14th,” he said on when he plans to commit. “I still do plan on taking visits after that though.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Blissett is leaning towards Miami at this time but the defensive lineman most likely will take a visit to Florida after he makes a commitment on the 14th.
