The Florida Gators have improved on the offensive line a lot this year but they’re still looking to add prospects to the recruiting class in 2023.
On Saturday, the Gators offered JUCO offensive lineman Keyshawn Blackstock (6-5, 315, Covington, GA. Coffeville JUCO) after he talked to offensive line coach Rob Sale.
“Coach Sale offered me,” Blackstock said on which coach from Florida offered him on Saturday. “I’ve been talking to him for two to three weeks and he said that he’s been wanting to offer me, but he said he was waiting to get my measurements and make sure everything was alright. He said my film was good, but he just needed to get my measurements.”
Blackstock was happy to receive an offer from the Gators on Saturday and he likes that it’s close to home.
“It’s big to me because it’s close to home,” he said on what the offer means to him. “Personally, it doesn’t matter how far from home it’s, I just want to narrow it down based off the relationship I have with the coaches.”
Sale explained to Blackstock on Saturday that the Gators need experienced depth and that he believes the JUCO lineman can play tackle in the SEC.
“He said there’s a need for me but that nothing will be given to me, he said I have to come in and work,” Blackstock said on the message from Sale. “He told me that I can play tackle because I have good feet and I can bend because I’m athletic for my size.”
Blackstock doesn’t know a lot about the Gators or Billy Napier and his coaching staff, but he has started to learn more about Florida.
“I’ve been really doing my research and starting to research them a lot,” he said on what he knows about Florida and the staff. “Florida is close to the crib; they have a guy named Chief Borders that I played against in high school.”
Next up for Blackstock will be official visits once his season at Coffeville ends and the Gators are a school he’s considering visiting.
“I’m going to take my visits after the season,” Blackstock said on what’s next for him. “The schools that I’m going to visit are going to be the ones in my top five, I haven’t narrowed it down yet, but it will come down to my relationship with the coaches.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Blackstock has three years to play two and he plans to enroll at a college in January.
