The Florida Gators picked up their fourth commitment of the week on Friday afternoon when they picked up a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball.
Running back Andrew Beard (5-9, 195, Bogart, GA. Prince Avenue Christian) committed to Florida over Clemson, Georgia, and Tennessee on Friday.
“For the next three to four years, I’ll be committing to the Universitu of Florida,” Beard said
Beard is the first running back to commit to the Florida this cycle and the Georgia native has been a top target for the Gators since Jon Sumrall and his staff took over in Gainesville.
Clemson had the early lead in Beard’s recruitment but a spring visit to Gainesville last month really turned the momentum towards Florida after he was able to meet the staff and see how they coach in-person.
Beard had a productive junior year where he carried the ball 165 times for 1,292 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also added 31 catches for 450 yards and another five touchdowns receiving.
In two seasons at Prince Avenue, Beard has rushed for 3,229 yards and 34 touchdowns and has ran for 100 yards in 16 games.
The Gators will now turn their attention to adding a second running back in the class and they’re after top targets Gary Walker, Tranard Roberts, and Trey Martin to add to Beard in the class.
Now that Beard has committed, the Gators sit with 14 commits in the Class of 2027 and are in the top 10 in team recruiting rankings.
