Baxter has family ties to the Florida Gators and picked up an offer last week

The NCAA dead period will officially end on May 31st and the Florida Gators have been handing out new offers to prospects in hopes of getting them on campus this summer.

Last week 2023 athlete Cedric Baxter (6-1, 215, Orlando, FL. Edgewater) picked up an offer after he talked to two coaches from Florida.

“Coach [Greg] Knox and Coach [Keiwan Ratliff] Rat,” Baxter said on which coaches from Florida offered him. “They said they loved my film and can’t wait to get me on campus.”

Baxter has family ties to Gainesville and that made the offer even better for him once he received the news.

“It means a lot to me because my cousin actually played there a while back, his name is Rod Johnson,” he said on what the offer means to him. “I was happy because I know the tradition and the culture.”

Despite playing all over the field in college, Baxter says the Gators want him on the offensive side of the ball in college.

“They want me on offense, playing running back,” Baxter said on where the coaches want him to play. “The coaches love my film and the way I’m able to plan my foot and go.”

Baxter isn’t ready to narrow things down in his recruitment but admits that he likes a few things in particular about the Gators.

“As of right now my interest level for every school is the same,” he said on his interest in Florida. “I like them and they know how to send people to the league and they have a winning tradition. Rod [Johnson] tells me that it’s a very good culture and environment.”

The athlete was once a Florida State commit but now says five schools are recruiting him hard ahead of summer visits in June.

Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Penn State,” Baxter said on schools recruiting him hard. “I’m visiting Miami June 1st, Florida June 2nd, UCF June 5th and 9th, Georgia Tech June 10th, and Florida State June 13th and 16th.”
