Hawkins feels at home with the Florida Gators

Several of the Florida Gators top targets from the 2023 class were in Gainesville for Friday Night Lights last weekend and many of them worked out for the coaching staff.

2023 athlete Cedric Baxter (5-11,165 , Titusville, FL. Cocoa) was on campus and enjoyed the feedback he received from the coaches while working out.

“It was wonderful,” Hawkins said of his visit to Florida. “They [the coaches] just keep telling me to keep working hard to perfect my craft, at all times”

Defensive backs coach Jules Montinar has explained to Hawkins just where the Gators want him to play at if he comes to Gainesville for college.

“They want me at corner,” he said on where Florida wants him to play. “They like me there because I’m physical, got speed, and can guard one on one.”

This is the second time this summer that Hawkins has visited Gainesville and he explained what he likes about the Gators after the visits.

“I love the facilities and I love the coaching staff, it feels like home,” Hawkins said on what he likes about Florida. “They’re great guys too.”

The Gators have some competition as two other schools are recruiting Hawkins hard heading into his junior year.

“Right now, Florida state, Ohio, schools like that,” he said on others recruiting him hard.
